Artist Profile : Bianca Byggmästar

Bianca is a textile designer and interior architect living in Finland. She likes to explore with strong graphics and colour when designing, taking inspiration from nature and geometrical forms.

When she draw plants, she loves to gather her inspiration from her surroundings and travels and she works with actual flowers and leaves whenever possible. She studies them and try to be faithful to their nature when rendering their beauty.

Her background in architecture gives her a particular interest in geometric shapes and textures that she loves to vary and give a hand drawn touch. She draws all of her patterns by hand on paper, favouring techniques such as marker and ink, but also watercolour and gouache.

She is also a weaver and knitter, and some of the inspiration for her pattern work comes from her yarn creations.
