In April 2018, I made a call out on Instagram for print designs to licensed for my fledgling fabric business.

There was the cutest little animal print with a hand-drawn style that I simply had to have. It was by French Designer Lillian Farag, and when I reached out to her I was enamoured with the delightful illustrations in her kit bag of artwork.

It was no surprise that Jennifer would become my most enduring illustrator. With over 15500 Meters of her designs printed over 6 years there is no denying she is a firm favourite with sewists worldwide.

Simplicity and curated colour choices are stand-out features for Jennifer Bouron. She is known for her fashionable drawings, contemporary portraits and inky tones.

Like Nerida, Jennifer also lives in a small village, near the sea.

She produces stylish, eye-catching and fun artwork that tend to star cats, polka dots, stripes, plants, women and another of her loves – tea.

“I am inspired by moments,” says Jennifer. “I like to walk outside, look at the city or nature. I can be inspired by a window or shells on the beach. Shapes and colours move me the most.”

Prior to freelancing as an illustrator, Jennifer worked as a fashion designer for a kidswear company in the Netherlands. After three years in the fashion space she realised she wanted to work on different projects and not always the same thing.

“It was an excellent experience, but I started to get bored,” says Jennifer. “I always wanted to be a fashion designer, but I soon found out that what I really like drawing was characters and patterns, not black and white flat technical drawings.”

Jennifer says she still adores fashion and has gone on to work with many fashion labels including kids categories. When Nerida was a licensing agent, she was often selling and licensing Jennifers work, and to this day Jennifer is a mainstay identity for the Nerida Hansen x Verhees Collections.

“I always find myself drawing my characters with clothes that I would like in my own wardrobe,” she laughs.

This last celebration reveals some never-before-seen designs from Jennifer, and is the very last opportunity for Nerida Hansen Customers to purchase this beautiful fabric from her.

I have named this collection "La Vie en Rose" because like Jennifers work, we both agree that life is for living with a positive outlook, a love of colour and joy for living.

I want to acknowledge and take full responsibility for the valid concerns of customers who are disappointed with late deliveries and a lack of communication about their orders. My small business has been overwhelmed for some months and I recognise the impact this has had on my organisational capacity, my ability to adhere to production schedules, and most importantly, my capacity to communicate clearly with you.
